GMA Pinoy TV airs RP Gilas’ Jones Cup 2010 action

Pinoy basketball fans are in for a treat as GMA Pinoy TV airs “Team Pilipinas at the Jones Cup 2010" -- a documentary on RP Gilas’ impressive finish at the 32nd William Jones Cup in Taiwan -- on August 6 and 8 in various territories.
Fresh from its victorious finish in last month’s 2010 Philippine Invitational Challenge at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, RP Gilas flew to Taipei for the 32nd William Jones Cup at the Hsinchuang gymnasium, wherein they finished fourth.
The national team opened its Jones Cup bid with a victory over the host country’s Chinese-Taipei University All-Star team, 83-52. The team, however, lost to defending champion Iran, 81-68, in their second game.
The cagers recovered in their third game, this time versus the Townsville Crocs of Australia for a 90-64 win, and followed it with another victory as they ripped the Chinese-Taipei team for a thrilling 96-93 overtime win in the fourth game. But the Pinoy quintet suffered back-to-back losses against the Japanese squad, 84-74, and Lebanon, 73-62.
The team's fourth place finish was already an improvement from the previous national team's sixth place finish in last year’s tournament.
