Starting on Starstruck: Dennis Trillo talks about hosting Starstruck
Date : Jan 14, 2010
Last year held a lot of ups and downs for Dennis Trillo.
Thankfully, fate had much in store for him at by end of the year, including a role in GMA Pinoy TV's hit series Darna, a movie in the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival and being a co-host on Starstruck, alongside Raymond Gutierrez and Carla Abellana.
"Being on Starstruck is really fulfilling," Dennis says, "I've hosted shows before but never one like this. It's really different."
He adds, "Starstruck is special. You get to meet different people from different walks of life. Since it's a reality show, emotions are high all the time, especially during elimination, when everyone gets worried about being taken out of the show."
Dennis' enthusiasm can be seen on the show, especially come elimination time, which is aired live. "In Starstruck, each episode is like a test. The biggest challenge is when we do live shows, because anything can happen. The script can change or you suddenly have to extend your spiel because the person you're introducing isn't ready yet. You have to be creative to avoid dead air."
Offcam, he marvels at the effort that each contestant puts in his or her performance. "You can see their determination as they work on a skill, be it acting, singing or dancing. There are a lot of promising young people in Starstruck."
When asked who he thought had a good chance of winning, the charming actor smiled and said, "I don't want to be biased."
