Finally, acclaimed drama actor Dennis Trillo will play solo lead star. And it’s not just any project, it’s the mammoth superhero series called GAGAMBINO.

Currently airing on GMA Pinoy TV, GAGAMBINO has an all-star cast featuring Katrina Halili, Nadine Samonte, Raymart Santiago, Polo Ravales, Isabel Oli, Glaiza de Castro, Glydel Mercado, and Ms. Jean Garcia. Also included in the cast are Leo Martinez, Benjie Paras, Jennica Garcia, Mart Escudero, Jan Manual and Krissa Mae Arrieta with the special participation of Zoren Legaspi, John Arcilla, and Bernadette Alysson.

The series is based on the graphic novel created by multi-talented Carlo J. Caparas. Dennis says in an exclusive interview with iGMA.tv, “Ito ay isang original ni Carlo J. Caparas... Ako si Bino at meron syang alagang higanteng gagamba, na yun 'yung tumutulong sa kanya para makipaglaban sa mga kaaway nya, and eventually ‘yung powers ng gagamba mapupunta sa kanya. Magiging powerful sya at habang tumatakbo 'yung istorya, marami syang makakalaban na mga makukulay na characters, mga villains… [at] nakaka-develop din sya ng mga bagong powers."

To prepare for the role, the heartthrob trained in “parkour” or “art of movement,” which some consider an extreme sport.

“Para [itong] wall claiming pero inaaplay mo sa totoong environment," Dennis told GMA news program 24 Oras. “Mai-incorporate din yung galaw ng spider. Parang…kasi sa GAGAMBINO siyempre mala-spider yun galaw. Kailangan makaakyat ka sa mga pader sa mga dingding…importante yun dexterity ng katawan."

The training is far from easy and the handsome actor had to endure several cuts and bruises. But he takes it all in stride. “Kasi kailangan malakas yun upper…buong katawan mo basically. Kailangan malakas yun upper body mo, yun legs mo," he explains.

Well, all the hard work paid off as GAGAMBINO is enjoying very high ratings in the Philippines. It is currently in a tight race for the top spot with other GMA shows Codename: Asero (starring Richard Gutierrez) and Lalola (starring Rhian Ramos and JC De Vera.)

As always, Dennis seems to thrive under pressure. He told Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), “Pressure ka kasi kailangan mo talagang maramdaman yun para ma-challenge ka. Kung walang pressure, baka pabandying-bandying ka lang and hindi mo mapagbutihan ang trabaho mo. Maganda ang may pressure. At least, aware ka na kailangan galingan mo talaga."
